Pink diamonds are commercially rare, highly valued, and greatly admired. Pink diamonds get their color from the rough diamond’s internal molecular structure.

 Famous Pink Diamonds:

                                              GRAFF PINK DIAMOND
The stone is classified as “fancy intense pink” – the best rating for a pink diamond, by the Gemological Institute of America. The emerald cut diamond is mounted on a silver ring with 2 flanking field-shaped diamonds. The rare 24.78 carat pink diamond, once owned by American celebrity jeweler Harry Winston, has been described as "one of the greatest diamonds ever discovered". The diamond, mounted in a ring, was became the most expensive single jewel ever sold at auction. This rare pink diamond smashed the world record for a jewel at auction, having been sold for $46m at Sotheby’s Geneva in November 16, 2010. The 24.78-carat stone was bought by renowned London jeweler Laurence Graff, and immediately named the Graff Pink.

                                                   HORTENSIA DIAMOND
The diamond weighs 20 carats (20.53 metric carats) is pale orangey-pink, rather flat and rectangular in shape and is cut on five sides. This peach color diamond was named after Hortense de Beauharnais, Queen of Holland - Josephine’s daughter and the step-daughter of Napoleon Bonaparte. After Louis XIV bought it, the Hortensia became a part of the French Crown Jewels. It can be viewed in the Louvre museum in Paris.

                                                    DARYA-YE NOOR
Weighing182 carats, (36.4 g), this is one of the largest pink diamonds in the world. Its color, pale pink, is one of the rarest to be found in diamonds. In 1965, a Canadian team conducting research on the Iranian Crown Jewels concluded that the Darya-e-Noor may well have been part of a large pink diamond that had been studded in the throne of the mughal emperor Shah Jehan, and had been described in the journal of the French jeweler Tavernier in 1642, who called it the "Diamanta Grande Table". This diamond may have been cut into two pieces; the larger part is the Darya-e-Noor ("Sea of Light").

NOOR-OL AIN (the light of the eye)
It is one of the largest pink diamonds in the world and is believed to have once formed part of an even larger gem. The principal diamond mounted in a tiara of the same name made for Iranian Empress Farah Pahlavi's wedding to Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi in 1958. The diamond is believed to have been recovered from the Golconda mines in India and was brought into the Iranian Imperial collection after the conquest of that country by Nader Shah Afshar in the 18th century.

                                        STEINMETZ PINK DIAMOND
The Steinmetz Pink is the largest known diamond weighing 59.60 carats (11.92 g) and having been rated Vivid Pink by the Gemological Institute of America. As a result of this exceptional rarity, the Steinmetz Group took a cautious 20 months to cut the Pink. It was unveiled in Monaco on May 29, 2003, in a public ceremony.
